Toyota’s conventional hybrid architecture uses a parallel system with a gasoline engine and two electric motor generators connected to a planetary gearset transmission.

With a two-motor setup, the first motor generator draws power from the engine to charge the battery, while the second delivers power and torque to the wheels.
