2027 Toyota Highlander Trim Levels: XLE vs. Limited
With over 45 cubic feet of rear cargo space and a fully electric powertrain, the 2027 Toyota Highlander raises the bar for three-row family SUVs. Toyota Chula Vista presents both available grades, XLE and Limited, each with its own battery, drivetrain, and feature configuration. Knowing how the two compare puts you in a better position to find the right setup for your household.
The XLE Grade: A Flexible, Full-Electric Starting Point
The XLE is the entry grade for this new Toyota model and one of the more configurable options in the lineup. Available in FWD or AWD, it offers three distinct powertrain setups: XLE FWD puts out 221 horsepower and 198 lb-ft of torque with a manufacturer-estimated 287-mile total driving range rating; XLE AWD produces 338 combined system horsepower with 198 lb-ft front and 125 lb-ft rear motor torque, available with either a 77.0-kWh battery (manufacturer-estimated 270-mile range) or a 95.8-kWh battery (manufacturer-estimated 320-mile range).
Standard cabin features on the 2027 Toyota Highlander XLE include a 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia® touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, SofTex®-trimmed seating, heated front seats and steering wheel, 64-color customizable ambient lighting, and a NACS charging port. Toyota Safety Sense® 4.0 (TSS® 4.0) and a built-in drive recorder are also standard. On XLE AWD, you can add a JBL® Premium Audio system or opt for a bench seat that seats up to seven; a panoramic roof is available across all grades.
The Limited Grade: All-Wheel Drive, Fully Loaded
The 2027 Toyota Highlander Limited is AWD exclusive and comes standard with the 95.8-kWh battery and a manufacturer-estimated 320-mile total driving range rating. Building on the XLE, the Limited adds:
- Ventilated front seats
- Heated second-row seats
- Head-up display
- Rear sunshades
- Panoramic View Monitor
Driver assistance features also expand to include Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Advanced Park, and side view mirrors with memory and reverse tilt function.
The Limited cabin features unique textured patterns on the SofTex®-trimmed seating not found on the XLE. Second-row captain’s chairs come standard at this grade; the bench seat option available on XLE AWD is not offered on the Limited. Optional upgrades include 22-inch wheels, two-tone exterior paint, and the JBL® Premium Audio system with 11 speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier.
